A WhatsApp recap (or WhatsApp Wrapped) is a visual, animated summary of your conversations: who sent the most messages, favorite emojis, your most active days and hours, most-used words and more. ZapWrapp generates all of it automatically from your exported chat file, without reading or storing your messages.

How to create it in 4 steps

The process is simple and takes less than 5 minutes:

  1. 1.Export the chat

    In WhatsApp, open the conversation, tap export and choose "Without media". You’ll get a .zip or .txt file.

  2. 2.Upload the file

    Come back to ZapWrapp and upload the file on the create screen. We accept .zip and .txt.

  3. 3.Wait a few seconds

    Our system analyzes the chat automatically and builds your recap. It usually takes just a few seconds.

How to export your WhatsApp chat

The steps differ slightly between iPhone and Android. Follow the guide for your device:

On iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the conversation you want in WhatsApp
  2. Tap on the conversation name to open settings
  3. Scroll down and tap "Export Chat"
  4. Select "Without Media" to export only messages
  5. Tap "Save to Files" and choose a folder
  6. Come back here and upload the .zip file you saved

On Android

  1. Install the ZapWrapp app on your phone
  2. In WhatsApp, open the conversation and tap the three dots
  3. Tap "More" in the menu
  4. Select "Export Chat"
  5. Choose "Without Media"
  6. Tap "Share" and select ZapWrapp
  7. Done! The file will be processed automatically

Tip: always export "Without media" so the file stays small and uploads faster.

Are your chats read or stored?
